Bio
My childhood began on a cotton farm near Farmersville, Texas in 1948. As was common back in those days in rural parts of the country, my large family didn’t own a TV set, so I became an avid reader. After perusing hundreds of comic books, the thought occurred to me to tell a story as interesting as any of the ones I’d read. Within a short time, I wrote the script while a friend drew the pictures, and we created our own comic book. Other than athletics, my favorite class in high school was journalism, where I became Sports Editor for the school paper, and also wrote articles for the local newspaper. By the age of 14, playing the guitar became my new interest. After becoming bored learning other people’s lyrics and tunes, I began to write my own songs, spent many years in the music business as a singer/songwriter/ musician/producer, and also created skits for comedy groups.
While in junior high, I read “Guadalcanal Diary” by Rube Garrett, and “Battle Cry” by Leon Uris. Because these two books inspired me so much, when I graduated from high school in 1966, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. During my three years as a young Marine, my travels took me to serve in places like Okinawa, the Philippines, and Vietnam. It was in these places that I collected experiences I would later in life write about.
In ‘69, when returning home, I quickly found jobs were hard to come by for a Vietnam vet, so I bought a motorcycle and spent many months traveling around the US, Canada, and deep into Mexico. There was a nasty rumor that I smuggled contraband across the Mexican border, but like I said, it was only a rumor, so I won’t go into that.
I always knew that someday I was going to be a writer, and being the curious and adventurous sort, never settled on one particular occupation. With every job I ever took, in the back of my mind was always the question; What can I experience from this job to write about? My experiences as a farmer, a cowboy, and as a long-haul trucker driving over one million miles were followed by my becoming a bus driver (I drove luxury tour buses for entertainers.) Then there were the fun five years I spent as a private investigator for a criminal defense attorney. I’ve been an artist, an award-winning photographer, a repo man, nightclub bouncer, and a construction worker.
During those years, I read thousands of books on every subject imaginable, and studied the art of putting words together to create pieces of work that other people would enjoy reading. In 2001, the opportunity came about that I was finally able to become a full-time writer. Since then, I’ve written numerous articles about Vietnam for newspapers and magazines, and at the present time I’m at work on my seventh book: two nonfiction, and five novels. I am happy to say that I have only scratched the surface of experiences I plan to write about, including smuggling on the Texas/Mexican border, a book that would be total fiction, based on rumors of course.
Linda Phillips: rebelred17@tx.rr.com is our editor for childrens books and has been recently working with writers, Kathy Klein and Steve Fanning. She also is enjoying artistic works on these two books as well as editing drawing for J. Freer and G. Freer. Linda has a promising career as an artist and an editor for both Digi-Tall Media and Entry Way Marketing and Publishing. We are very proud to have her on our staff.

DEDICATIONS
The practice of dedicating a book has now little meaning at best it is only a tribute of affection either to a private friend or public character. In its origin, a dedication meant far little than this. When readers were few, writers trusted to the patronage of some great person and the dedication was the means of recommending a book to his protection, or of expressing that gratitude which was a lively sense of favors to come.
PREFACE:
Just as an elegant porch announces the splendor of an interior, a preface becomes the entrance to a book and should have such an inviting atmosphere. For the most part, we always further amusement from a preface, be it ackwardly or skillfully written. If care is taken, a preface can frequently end up a superior composition to the work itself.
An introduction to a book -- or even the review placed on the back of a book, is as essential to put the reader into a good humor, as a good prologue is to a play, or a fine symphony to an opera containing something analogous to the work itself.
The Italians call the preface the 'Salsa de libro', the source of the book, and if well seasoned, it creates an appetite in the reader to devour the book itself. On the other hand, a preface badly composed prejudices the reader against the work.
Not all audiences are equally fortunate in being able to write these little introductions. Often they can compose volumes of manuscripts more skillfully than prefaces. Otherwise, there are also writers who can write an excellent preface, but would never be capable of writing an entire a book.
The one thing to be remembered is if you are unable to write your own preface, please do seek assistance from someone with the skill. The written report will be needed many times throughout the life of your book and its marketing.
PRINTERS: The printer is the friend of intelligence, of thought, he is the friend of liberty, of freedom, of law; indeed, the printer is the friend of every man who is the friend of order, the friend of every man who can read of all inventions, of all the discoveries in science or act of all the great results in the wonderful progress of mechanical energy and skill, the printer is the only product of civilization necessary to the existance of man.
Charles Dickens: 1812-1870

WRITER TIPS & TESTIMONIES
THE ENTRY WAY WRITER'S WORKS
The reality of having their books sold is the follow-through that we at Entry Way Publishing are most dedicated to for the books that are completed and stamped with our seal of approval.
Similar to large publishing houses, we do proudly reserve the right to accept and work towards completion of books that meet our level of expectation in a book being publishing in 2005 and 2006.
Therefore, all books published by Entry Way Publishing will be first read, reviewed, and then approved as a product for us to add to our list of successes. Not all of the books sent to us will be approved.
There will be a real concentrated effort on our part to pay attention to the following:
* Format of the book
* Punctuation
* Spelling
* Blatant errors
* Repetitive language errors
* Paragraph formatting
* Correct chapter breaks
* Chapter titles and table of contents matching
* Page numbering
* Research of facts and figures
After all of the above has been reviewed and approved by at least two members of our staff, the book will be produced and Entry Way will proudly say, "Welcome to the world of literature success and to worlds unknown."

6/28/2006 ----- Fabulous! I love it! Logo, book and all!
Victoria, I'm so happy I stumbled across you and Cheryl. You're right, I have been evolving. I was so worried initially when you both wanted Marllow done on the computer. I've done computer graphics work before but not for children. I had no idea how it would turn out and I thank to both of you I learned such a HUGE asset! I learned I had a skill I never knew I had before. That I am forever grateful for because I can use it for the rest of my life. And I know if I never found you I would have never learned this about myself. So thank you! I cannot wait to see the final hard cover book, and I know that children are going to love it. You know how kids always tear books up? Well, I think this one is going to be the safest of them all. ;-)
Cheers
Izzi.
